Multi-Room Audio

With Multi-Room Audio, you can enjoy music in any room of your house, even outdoors. You can have music wherever you want it. We can install speakers in walls or in ceilings, on your deck or patio, or even in your garden!

You can select radio stations, CDs, the sound from your TV (whether it's from your cable, satellite or video), and any other sound source. Imagine listening to your favorite music as you move from room to room in your house.

System Configurations
Simple systems share the same sound in all areas of the house. These are called multi-room (or multi-zone) systems. More sophisticated systems allow different sources to be heard in different rooms at the same time. These are called multi-source systems. Keypads in each room allow you to select which source is heard in that room. For example, you can listen to a CD in the kitchen, while someone else listens to the ball game on the patio, and in another room the radio is playing.

Volume Control and Keypads
A Multi-Room Audio system can include volume controls or keypads in each room that are mounted on the wall like light switches. Keypads allow you to turn your entire system on or off, the sound in the room(s) controlled by the keypad, select the sound or music source, and control the volume for each room. They can even work with your existing equipment remote controls!

Speakers
Speakers can be mounted in the wall or in the ceiling and can even be painted to match your color scheme. Outdoor speakers come in all shapes and sizes. (They can even be camouflaged as rocks.)

Design
We can design a system specifically for you. We carefully consider the layout of your home, your lifestyle, and any requirements you have. We'll design a system that fits your needs and is easy for anyone to use. We can design your system from blue prints or a floor plan.

Installation
In new construction, the in-wall wiring is roughed in while the walls are open and before the drywall is applied. Brackets for the speakers and boxes for the keypads are also mounted at this time. When the interior is finished, the speaker grills can be painted to match your walls or ceiling. Then when all the interior work is finished, we return to install the speakers and keypads.

In existing construction - wires need to be run in the crawlspace or attic and then fished down (or up) walls to install the keypads and speakers for your system. A thorough inspection will be done of your home or business to decide which method works best for your particular type of construction. Once all the wires are in place, the process is identical to that for new construction.

We'll test the system, do any necessary programming, and show you and your family how to use it.

Do you want to enjoy some or all of the benefits of the best commercial theaters -- incredible picture and sound, and comfortable seating -- in the privacy of your own home? Would you like to add something to your home that would provide an activity the entire family could enjoy?

Don't buy a ticket and sit in a crowded theater. With a custom-designed home theater from Home Enhancement Systems, you can have your own theater using the latest technologies. A home theater can create a cinema-quality experience in the comfort of your own home. You decide which options are important to you and your family!

If you're not ready for a high-definition digital television yet, we can design a system using your current audio/video equipment that will be capable of handling your present needs and also be ready for future upgrades.

We'll design the best system for your space, budget and entertainment needs. Sometimes there are tradeoffs. The room dimensions might not be acoustically optimal. The best-sounding speaker might be too large for the room. We'll create a home theater experience that looks, sounds, and "feels" right for your family.

Home Theater Audio Systems (Surround Sound Systems)
While most people are initially "wowed" by the big, enveloping picture of a home theater, the sound quality is just as important. Great home theater sound creates the feeling that you're actually in the environment shown on the screen.

In addition to the normal front left and right speakers, a surround system adds a front center speaker, rear left and right speakers, and one or more subwoofers. The front speakers reproduce the on-screen action -- dialog, music, and sound effects like left to right motion. The rear speakers create the illusion of ambient space. They're also needed for re-creating front and back motion effects. Subwoofers are used to reproduce very low sounds, like explosions or earthquakes. The placement of the speakers in your room is very important to the overall effect. Our design will ensure that your home theater is engineered for the best possible sound.

A high-quality multi-channel audio system surrounds the listener with realistic, life-like sounds from all directions. A well-designed system will perform equally well in all of the following:

  • Playback of movie and surround TV soundtracks at a high quality level
  • Convincingly re-create the acoustic space of the room of hall in which the music was recorded
  • Create musical experiences where the listener is at the center of the performance, with musicians all around

Home Enhancement Systems will help you determine the best multi-channel audio system, depending on your priorities:

  • If you will listen to 2-channel stereo music on this system, and if this listening is most important to you, then invest in the best front left and right speakers, even if this means compromising elsewhere
  • If home theater or multi-channel audio listening is most important, then invest in a high-quality center speaker
  • If stereo and home theater listening are equally important, then invest in excellent front left and right speakers and an excellent center channel speaker

The acoustics of the room will also greatly affect the performance of the surround system. If you are in the process of building a room, we suggest that you consider acoustics when you decide on the size of the room and the listening position. We will be happy to assist you in creating the ideal acoustic environment for your movies and music.

System Design
Each project begins with an interview with you. We determine your needs by listening and by asking questions about your lifestyle: your daily routine, your entertainment style needs, requirements for kids, and for your guests. If you're just beginning construction we'll go over the plans with you. If you're designing your home, we can work with you and your architect, with your imagination as the only limitation. Attuned to your needs, we can then design a system specifically for you.

What's possible with a good system design?
A home theater could be incorporated into an existing family room or den. Or we can design a mini-Cineplex in a dedicated room, complete with drapes, custom seating, etc.

Components can be made visible or completely hidden away. Speakers can be concealed in cabinetry or inside a wall or ceiling.

A multi-room audio system can be designed to meet your needs and lifestyle.

We'll design a control system that will make your system -- no matter how high-tech -- easy to use for you, your entire family, and even your guests.

Designing for Best Performance
In designing a custom-installed system, we make dozens of choices in order to deliver the highest performance possible for your budget. For example:

  • We allocate the budget carefully, selecting the best-performing, most-cost effective products possible
  • We carefully choose and route the in-wall cables, minimizing interference and sonic degradation
  • We consider room acoustics, furniture locations, and lifestyle issues when designing a home theater's room dimensions, or locating speakers

Many of these design choices are hidden — but they're very important. The bottom line is you want to experience the sound that you paid for.

Digital Televisions

4K UHD, LED, and LCD TVs

4K UHD
4k UltraHD

4K UHD Televisions
The one big advancement which has now arrived is 4K. With 4K TVs now the standard, the new hi-res technology is no longer just for the tech-minded early adopter market.

4K – also known as UHD – is a picture technology that quadruples the number of pixels found in a full HD picture. With 4K, pixels are usually arranged in a 3,840 x 2,160 configuration, compared with the 1920x1080 you get in a full HD TV.

At CES 2016, every TV manufacturer, from Sony to Panasonic, debuted new 4K TVs, most of which will use the new Ultra HD Premium logo.

As is the case with any new technology, 4K UHD TVs are more expensive than LED or LCD TVsat the present time, but we are starting to see newer models at lower prices than initially offered.

LED

LED Televisions
LED TVs are technically a member of the LCD TV family. The display screen on a LED is a liquid crystal display the same as it is on any other LCD TV. The main difference between the two is different backlighting techniques.

The actual LCD panels are exactly the same as other LCD televisions. Traditional LCD TVs use CCFL backlights (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) - thin fluorescent tubes with a diffusing panel inside to spread the light evenly around the screen. Meanwhile, LED TVs use LED elements for the lighting source.

Traditional LCDs have used some form of fluorescent lighting from tubes to much more advanced flat arrays of lights. LED TVs use Light Emitting Diodes to light the LCD panel. Just as there are different styles of fluorescent lights in traditional LCDs there are also different styles of LED backlighting. There are LED TVs that have a panel of LED lights behind the LCD panel. In some the LEDs are tri-colored and can be controlled in banks for an effect called "local dimming". This allows darker areas of the picture to have the backlighting dimmed behind them resulting in better contrast and black levels.

LED Advantages
  • Local dimming LED TV technology has a clear advantage in contrast and black levels
  • Thinner than LCD TVs
  • LED TVs with colored backlighting have better color accuracy
  • Viewing angles that rival Plasma TVs
LED Disadvantages
  • LED TVs without colored backlighting are nearly equal to LCD TVs
  • Response times and refresh rates are equal to LCD TVs
  • Power consumption is higher
  • LED TVs are a little more expensive than LCD TVs

LCD Televisions
Liquid Crystal Display, or LCD TVs use a florescent backlight to send light through its liquid crystal molecules and a polarizing substrate. LCD TVs work passively, with red, green and blue pixels. By applying voltage to the pixels using a matrix of wires, the pixels can be darkened to prevent the backlight from showing through. Many LCD displays double as computer displays by allowing standard analog VGA input, a great option if you need your display to pull double duty as a PC monitor to save money and space. Nearly all LCD TVs offer flexible mounting options including walls or under cabinets.

Bigger, faster, cheaper. LCD screens have broken the size barrier that once held them back (with models as large as 108") and the larger screens have become affordable and economical to produce. LCDs now have contrast ratios equal to those found on more expensive Plasma and DLP models, and the "blur" effect, where the pixels cannot refresh fast enough for the screen motion, is extinct in newer models.

LCD Advantages
  • Excellent color reproduction
  • Very thin and lightweight
  • Perfect sharpness at native resolution
  • Excellent longevity
  • No screen burn-in effect
  • Available in 1080i and 1080p models (as well as lower priced 720p models)
LCD Disadvantages
  • Fixed resolution
  • Notorious “screen door” effect on lesser models
  • Very difficult to produce deep blacks (see above)
  • Weak and “stuck” pixels are common
  • Viewing angle on older models may be narrow
  • Potential for slower refresh rates (newer models are much better with 120Hz refresh rates)

Projectors & Screens

LCD Projectors and DLP Projectors

LCD Projectors
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) projectors contain three separate LCD glass panels (they are commonly referred to as 3LCD projectors), one each for the red, green, and blue components of the video signal. Each LCD panel contains thousands (or millions) of liquid crystals that can be aligned in either open, closed, or partially closed positions to allow light to pass through. Each liquid crystal behaves in essence like a shutter or blind, and each represents a single pixel ("picture element"). As red, green, and blue light passes through the respective LCD panels, the liquid crystals open and close based on how much of each color is needed for that pixel at that moment in time. This activity modulates the light and produces the image that is projected onto the screen.

Projected images are produced by the combination of light shinning through the LCD cells. LCD's have excellent color saturation, usually have adjustable brightness and contrast, are typically brighter than DLP's at the same lumen output, and have a broader range of connectivity.

DLP Projectors
DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors were developed by Texas Instruments and project images by reflecting lights against hundreds of tiny mirrors called digital micro devices (DMD). Each mirror represents one pixel, is powered by electronics that adjust the angle of the mirror according to the color being displayed. DLP projectors are lighter in weight than their LCD counterparts.

They are all digital technology and typically have higher contrast ratios, meaning that they project video images better than LCD's.

LCD Projectors vs. DLP Projectors
There doesn't seem to be a clear preference towards either. The main difference is in how the projector will be used— business, educational, or home theater use. Both technologies produce excellent pictures, and are getting better all the time.

Picture quality in digital projectors has improved dramatically over the past decade with significant increases in contrast, resolution, and color performance. Prices have dropped like a rock, and high quality projection systems that once were very expensive and mainly aimed at wealthy consumers or businesses who really needed them, are now within the budgets of mass consumers.

Some manufacturers are producing only 3LCD projectors, whereas others still manufacture both 3LCD and DLP projectors. The bottom line is that whichever format you prefer, the prices are getting lower all the time.

Home Enhancement Systems is an Optoma Authorized Reseller and a ViewSonic Authorized Partner, and also has projectors available from Epson and other leading manufacturers.

Screens

The video projection screen is just as important as the projector itself. Projection Screens come in various fabrics, sizes, and prices.

The type of screen that will work best depends on the projector, the viewing angle, the amount of ambient light in the room, and the distance of the projector from the screen. The following outlines what you need to know before purchasing a video projection screen for your home theater.

Room Characteristics
Take a look at the room you will be placing the video projector in. Is the room of sufficient size to project a large image on the wall area you intend to use? Check for ambient light issues, such as windows, french doors, or other factors that would prevent the room from being dark enough for video projection use.

Screen Distance, Size and Seating Position
The projector-to-screen distance determines how large an image can be projected on the screen, while the viewer seating position determines the optimum viewing distance. The lens type of the video projector being considered also determines how large an image can be projected from a given distance. Video projectors have different lens characteristics. User manuals include specific charts and diagrams that show what size image a projector can produce. Some manufacturers also provide this same information on their websites.

Screen Aspect Ratio
Because widescreen DVD and HDTV are so popular, the most video projection screens are 16x9 aspect ratio. This accommodates widescreen programming display on all, or most, of the actual screen surface area, while the 4x3 design will result in a larger unused screen surface area when viewing widescreen programming. However, 4x3 design will allow the projection of a much larger 4x3 image, which would fill the entire screen surface. Although video projectors designated as Home Theater or Home Cinema Projectors project a 16x9 native aspect ratio image, they can be configured for 4x3 display.

Other Considerations
Video projection screens are made to reflect as much light as possible to produce a bright image in a specific type of nvironment.

  • Permanent screens vs. pull down (or motorized) screens, or portable screens.
  • The type of screen material used.
  • Viewing angle characteristics of the screen.

Most people spend 90% of their time indoors. Poor indoor air quality can impact health, safety and comfort — especially in children and the elderly. Dirt Devil® eliminates 100% of vacuumed dirt, dust and allergens, so you can live in a healthier home with cleaner indoor air. Cleaner Indoor Air with Dirt Devil®

unlike portables, MaxAir comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty, to ensure free cleaning year after year.

MaxAir delivers better Indoor Air Quality.

MaxAir systems aren't seen – or heard.
MaxAir systems transport all vacuumed dirt and dust particles through a network of in-wall tubing directly to the power unit, which is typically located in a basement, garage, crawlspace or utility room, so noise levels are kept low throughout the living areas.

CFT Diagram

Cyclonic Filtration Technology® (CFT™) provides maximum cleaning power
Dirt Devil® features Cyclonic Filtration Technology® (CFT™) is a dual filtration process that removes 100% of the vacuumed dirt from the living area. For primary filtration, CFT uses Cyclonic Separation, a process that removes 96-98% of the dirt from the air stream without the use of bags and filters. The remaining fine dust particles (less than 5%) are trapped in the high-performance filter. Unlike central vacuum systems that rely on permanent cloth filters, the powerful performance of Dirt Devil® will not decrease as dirt accumulates.

CFT is an exclusive dual filtration process designed to deliver maximum cleaning power every time you vacuum. CFT begins with Cyclonic Separation to remove dirt, dust and allergens from the incoming air stream without bags or filters. Cyclonic Separation starts the moment vacuumed dirt enters the power unit from the intake. As the dirt-laden air begins a downward descent, it spirals along the inside of the unit, picking up speed and forcing 96-98% of the vacuumed dirt into the dirt canister. The remaining fine dust particles are pulled upward with the airflow and are trapped in a high-efficiency pleated filter cartridge. Less than 5% of the vacuumed dirt is exposed to the filter and only clean air is left to exit the power unit exhaust.

Versus Permanent Cloth Filter System

  • Cleaning performance decreases quickly as the permanent cloth filter becomes clogged with dirt.
  • Airflow forces 100% of all vacuumed dirt directly against the permanent cloth filter – no cyclonic air path or separation is achieved. The result is dirtier filters for greater clogging potential and less vacuum power.
  • Debris is not released from the permanent cloth filter until the vacuum system is turned off. This helps to unclog the filter, but a dirt film remains – reducing original performance.
  • Permanent cloth filter systems can not be restored to like new condition once dirt and dust are embedded in the filter. Coatings like GORE-TEX® and Teflon® help reduce embedded dirt, but do not eliminate it.

Hide-A-Hose System
Hide-A-Hose makes your central vacuum system more convenient. You'll never have to move or store bulky hoses again. Up to 50 feet of hose are concealed within the wall until you need it. The sustained airflow and vacuum power of Dirt Devil®'s Cyclonic Filtration Technology® (CFT™) automatically retracts the hose when you're finished vacuuming.

Dirt Devil Hide-A-Hose
  • The vacuum hose is stored inside the wall, enclosed within the system's vacuum tubing when not in use.
  • Pull out the length of hose you need, connect the remote-controlled handle and begin vacuuming. One 50 foot hose can cover 1,800–2,200 square feet.
  • When you finish, the suction from your Dirt Devil® power unit pulls the hose back into the wall and out of sight. Then you simply carry your handle to the next inlet and repeat the process.

GSM Communicators

The GSM Communicator is installed between the telephone connection of a control panel and telephone line. When used in a backup role, the communicator assesses the connection to the PSTN phone line, and if that has failed, it then connects to the GSM network to send an alarm signal to the monitoring station. In a primary role, the communicator simply sends the alarm transmission over the GSM network immediately.

The DSC GSM-3055i universal wireless alarm communicator can be used in a backup or primary role. The GS3055-I connects the alarm control panel to the GSM network and reports alarm signals directly to a monitoring station receiver (Sur-Gard™ System /System III). For those customers not using a traditional PSTN phone line, the communicator can be utilized as a primary alarm communicator. The GS3055-I uses the GPRS data channel of the GSM network to ensure low-cost, reliable alarm communications and is compatible with any control panel that communicates using the Contact ID format.

FAQ About Burglar Alarms Systems

Why should you have a security alarm system?
A security alarm system may decrease the chances of a burglary. Even if the alarm system does not keep a burglar from breaking in, it may cause the burglar to leave as soon as the siren sounds or to stay a shorter amount of time.

Many people agree today that the world is a lot different now than the one that our parents and grandparents lived in. Statistics show that a burglary occurs every 14 seconds. So why wait until after your home has been burglarized to get a security alarm system installed?

The security alarm systems now available are much more advanced and sophisticated compared to those available a few years back. Today alarm systems are designed to help secure your home against any intrusion. Unfortunately as home security systems have advanced, so have the methods that burglars use in order to gain access to a property. Just having chains or padlocks on your property, or even a very basic burglar alarm, is not sufficient to deter a would-be burglar.

By investing in a good alarm system you will not have only peace of mind but also know that you have taken action to ensure that your property and your family are secure. A security alarm system will protect both you, your family and home at all times of the day, whether you are at home or away on vacation.

We can provide you with a yard sign and window decals to let potential intruders know that your home is protected.

By having a good system installed in your home, any potential intruders will see that you have a system in place and are likely to move on to a more vulnerable property than yours. Not only is having a system practical but it can also be extremely cost effective. Many insurance companies will provide those homeowners who have an alarm system installed on their property with a discount on their premiums.

What are the basic elements of a standard security alarm system?
Most systems rely on a combination of contacts placed at doors and windows and motion sensors.

  • Keypad - Where the system is armed and disarmed.
  • Siren and/or strobe - Produces an audible and/or visual notification when the alarm sounds to alert neigbors as well as any potential intruders that you have an alarm system installed in your home or business.
  • Inside motion detector(s) - These sense changes in a room caused by human presence. Motion detectors are available with "pet immunity" for people who have pets and reduce the potential of false alarms.
  • Door and window contacts - This sounds the alarm when the door or window is opened (and the system is armed).
  • Control panel - This is where all the wiring terminates, the backup battery is located and where it is connected to the phone lines if it is a monitored system.
  • A central monitoring station - If the system is monitored, and the alarm is activated, the control panel will send a message to a central monitoring station, which is manned 24 hours a day. After attempting to contact the homeowner (or the numbers that you have provided as a call list), the central monitoring station will contact the police. There is generally a monthly fee for this service.

Some of the additional items that can be added to the basic system are (contact us for other options):

  • Smoke and heat detectors
  • Carbon monoxide detectors
  • Glass break detectors
  • Panic buttons
  • Water Sensors
  • Temperature Sensors

Should your security alarm system be monitored by a monitoring company (also referred to as a central station)?
The choice is yours.

An Unmonitored System typically has on-site sirens and/or flashing lights. It relies on neighbors to call the police. With an unmonitored system, it is best to have a combination of strobe lights and sirens. They should be located on a side of the house that is visible to neighbors and in spot that is as inaccessible as possible. It is best to make your neighbors aware of the system so they will react when they hear the siren and see the flashing light.

A Monitored System typically works as follows:

  • A sensor in the security system (door/window contact, motion detector, etc.) is tripped.
  • If the sensor is at a defined entry location, the security system is programmed to wait 30 seconds or more to give the homeowner a chance to deactivate the system to prevent false alarms.
  • If the alarm is not deactivated the alarm will sound and instantly send a message to the monitoring company over telephone lines. The monitoring company receives the message and verifies the alarm, generally by placing a phone call to the home (or to the number(s) that you have provided to the monitoring company as a call list). If they do not receive the proper password or do not receive an answer, they then call the police.
  • If the sensor NOT at a defined entry location, the alarm sounds immediately and the security system sends a message to the monitoring company over telephone lines. The procedure is the same as described above.
  • The police respond.

Monitoring companies will monitor your system 24 hours a day and generally require a contract for their services at a set monthly fee.

You can also choose to "self-monitor" your alarm system by having it programmed to dial any number, such as your cell phone or a neighbor's phone, when the alarm sounds. You can then notify a neighbor to check your home to see if there are any visible problems and determine whether the police need to be notified.

Why should you consider adding smoke and heat detectors and/or carbon monoxide detectors to an alarm system?
The main reason is simple: What happens if a fire starts when no one is home?
60% of fires occur when the property is empty, meaning that the smoke detector is only effective if people are actually at home or at work. This implies that smoke detectors are only effective 40% of the time. That does not stop the fire from actually taking hold as there is no one there to hear it and take appropriate action.

40% of businesses that are destroyed by fire never reopen. The issue is not always about saving lives but saving someone's home or business too. How can we make the smoke detector 100% effective regardless of whether a building is empty of full of people?

When a smoke detector alarm sounds from inside a building and someone is present they can hear its piercing tones. A passer-by walking past your property while no one is there will probably not hear the smoke alarm through the closed windows. If a fire starts while you are out, it is likely to be too late. A security alarm system distinctly recognizes all of the alarm sounds, whether it's the burglar, smoke detector or carbon monoxide alarm.

If smoke detector alarms are monitored like many burglar alarm systems today, it would mean the device is 100% effective rather than 40%.

Many people are not aware that their alarm system can be monitored for other things than security. Easily the most important non-security devices are heat and smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

The smoke detectors that are installed in your home by a builder or an electrician can't be tied into your security system. The device that is installed is either electrical, battery operated, or in some instances both, if you have the better quality detectors.

When you add smoke and heat detectors to your security system, most of these devices are photoelectric smoke detectors. The detector basically takes a snapshot of the density of smoke that enters its chamber, and wants to see a density increase as it samples every few milliseconds. This technology makes the detector much more discriminating then its inexpensive counterparts.

The primary advantage of a home fire alarm system is increased reliability and the ability to place alarms and sirens exactly where needed. However, the reason most people have them is that they wanted a burglar alarm system and the cost of adding fire alarm features to a residential burglary system is relatively small.

Another advantage is that they can be monitored by a remote monitoring company. This becomes important in cases where family members may not be capable of escaping from a fire without assistance. For example, if you have an older or physically impaired person in your home and a fire started when no one was home to assist that person, alarms alone might not be enough to assure their safety.

Another benefit is that you will never have to replace batteries in smoke detectors again! This is because fire devices on an alarm system get their power from your electrical system, and in the event of power failure, are powered by the alarm's back up battery

There are many advantages to adding fire devices to your security system. Some of them are:

  • Your detector is on all the time, even if your alarm is disarmed.
  • The devices work off the power from your alarm system and use its backup power supplies should power fail.
  • The siren will emit a tone that is audibly different then a burglary siren.
  • If your system is monitored, your dispatch is being made without you having to call for help yourself. This gives you more time to gather your loved ones and pets for immediate exit.
  • If the system is monitored, a dispatch will take place even if you are not home. Typically flames will be coming through your roof, by the time your neighbors see them, and call for help. This early response may save your pets and a good portion of your home. (NOTE: Some municipalities will not dispatch their limited resources to an automatic fire alarm, unless it is designed completely to any existing local code.)
  • Insurance companies often give an additional discount off your homeowners insurance, for having a fire system. If this applies to you, these devices could effectively pay for themselves after a few years.

Since July 1, 2009, Colorado law has required that all homes sold have a Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector within 10 feet of every sleeping area.

CO prevents the human body from effectively delivering oxygen to the heart, brain and other vital organs. Elevated levels of CO in the air can cause immediate physiological effects, eventually leading to unconsciousness or even death.

The Benefits of a Monitored CO Detector
CO detectors monitored by a central station provide peace of mind by including an extra level of protection for situations when:

  • The residence is empty
  • Residents are sleeping
  • Pets, children and elderly are alone
  • Residents are already suffering the effects from CO exposure (drowsiness, unconsciousness, etc.)
  • A problem arises with the detector

If CO concentration hits dangerous levels, the central station will have the ability to alert the end user if the detector:

  • Is in alarm
  • Has been tampered with
  • Is experiencing mechanical trouble
  • Is in end-of-life and needs to be replaced

Will a Wireless Alarm System work as well as a Wired Alarm System?
Yes. Wireless security alarm systems are ideal for installation in a home that wasn't wired for an alarm system when it was built. Motion sensors, door contacts and window contacts can all be wireless.

Wireless devices can also be added to most wired alarm systems. This makes it easier to install additional sensors, smoke detectors, sirens, and other devices without having to run new wires.

The various wireless components use RF (radio waves) to transmit their signals back to the main control panel. The only real disadvantage compared to wired systems is that the wireless components run on batteries, which will need to be replaced once in a while.

These batteries generally last for years, however, and many alarm companies offer service and maintenance plans that will cover the replacement batteries and the installation of them.

Wireless systems are usually a little more expensive than a hardwired system, but if the system is being installed in an existing structure, the wireless will certainly be the least “invasive” in terms of cutting into walls and installing various components. The installation of a wireless home alarm system is an excellent choice for older homes or pre-existing homes where drilling could be costly or impossible.

No system is 100% wireless. A wireless system is a system with a control panel, keypad, and some mechanism for either calling the authorities or for sounding continuously unless a person with the correct code is able to shut if off. Keypads for some newer wireless systems are battery operated, but some wireless systems will require a few small holes to connect the keypad to the control panel and will most likely need an active telephone line.

One extra feature of a wireless system is a remote key. A remote key is similar to the remotes you get for car alarms. They can be used from a distance to arm or disarm the alarm.

Why Install a Video Surveillance System?
Two primary yet potentially complementary reasons exist for installing cameras: security or convenience. You needn't hide cameras installed primarily for convenience, although you can anyway. If a security camera is visible, it may deter an intruder. On the other hand, hiding cameras reduces the possibility of tampering or vandalism.

Businesses use this technology everyday to watch over inventory, parking lots and personnel. Homeowners also use video surveillance systems to see what's going on when they're not there. This is especially useful for a second home or a vacation home. With remote monitoring you can see both live and recorded video, as well as have the ability to download video, record video to a DVD-R or CD-R, and even make additional copies if required.

Today's DVRs are capable of storing weeks of video (the actual length of available recording depends on several factors - most importantly are the recording speed and number of cameras being recorded simultaneously).

Strategically located and operational 24/7, video surveillance is the eyes on the scene that you've always wanted when your not there.

Through the use of the internet, you can even look in on your business or home when you're not able to be there. Authorized users can also view live and recorded video at any time from any computer connected to the internet.

Video Surveillance Equipment - buy only what you currently need
If you want to start out with just a few cameras, but have your system ready for future expansion, we can help you determine where the most vulnerable areas in your business or home are, and place only those cameras that are necessary at the present time.

You can start out with a little as one camera and add cameras as they become necessary, or as your budget allows.

Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) are available with a wide range of features that will fit any budget in 4, 8, 9, 16 and 32 camera models. Our suggestion is to purchase a DVR that will accommodate the maximum number of cameras you will eventually need, then your DVR will be ready for those additional cameras as you add to the system. Most DVRs are ready for additional hard drives to be added to increase your stored recording time, so you can always increase the storage capacity of your system in the future.

Video Surveillance Packages
Video packages allow you to choose the system that fits the needs and size of your business. Each package includes a 4, 8, 9, 16, or 32 camera system, one 250 GB to 16 Terabyte capacity DVR, one 14" to 26" LCD color monitor, and professional installation.

We may include several different types of cameras in your system. Each installation addresses individual needs, building layouts, and optimal camera locations - our goal is to provide the most complete and cost-effective system that meets your requirements without exceeding your budget.

Benefits of Digital Video Surveillance

  • Accessibility - Digital video surveillance can give you the ability to quickly and easily view access events in multiple areas of your home or business facility.
  • Profitability - With digital video surveillance, you can have greater control over business loss. It may also help lower liability and insurance costs.
  • Productivity - Video surveillance/CCTV can discourage workplace violence, harassment and poor customer service.
  • Reliability - Digital video recorders (DVRs) mean no more broken or worn-out tapes, and no more costly maintenance.
  • Improved picture quality - DVRs deliver sharper images, with no loss of quality over time.
  • Enhanced capabilities - DVRs allow you to store more information using less space. Plus, events captured with DVRs can easily be downloaded, recorded to a DVD or CD-R and duplicated when an additional copy is required.
  • Remote access - Most DVR units can help you oversee your business or home from anywhere you have remote connectivity.
  • Networked Video Solutions - Use your IT infrastructure to view live and archived video to authorized users across your organization.
